Friday was a looooonnnnnggggg day. I arrived at school at 6:45 am, which is the typical time, had school, practice, watched boys game, and then the rest of the evening both the boys and girls basketball teams participated in a free-throw-athon. They were raising money for our Far East tournament. On Feb. 17 girls will be going to S. Korea and boys will be going to Japan. Both team will be returning on Feb 24. Each varsity player had to find people who would either pledge them a set amount or pledge per shot made. It was an all evening event including various competitions for the spectators, parents, and coaches. There was a half court shooting contest where I actually made one!!!! It was pretty nice :-) I won a bag 0f chips that I had to "share with my fans". Each player shot 100 free throws total. The girls leader was Anna Dehart with 81 out of 100 free throws, and the boys leader was Kirk Long with 86 out of 100. All of the kids did a great job making free throws and raising money. One of the boys even raised enough to pay for almost his whole plane ticket!!! Darn...too bad coaches couldn't participate! Once they were all done we celebrated with Pizza Hut pizza. I finally called it a night at about 10:00 because our girls team had a game at 8am the next morning. So Friday I was at the school from 6:45 am to 9:15 pm, but when it involves so much basketball it can't be bad!!
If you would like to help me get to Far East send support to:
